![]() ![]() The following is good up until they started all serial numbers with RS (Remington Shotgun). The barrel date code says B o 8 which I assume means Jan/77, this does not make sense being that this rifle was not. Its related to a sportsman 48 but doesnt look anything like it please help. It may not look exactly the same, but it should perform equally well. The month would be the third letter before the WW, if there is one. The numbers are: m570055 on the reciever. Now you can do this automatically using R. When a part is designed to be made through MIM from the start, there's no reason that it can't be as durable and strong as an equivalent part made from wrought stock. Remington Serial/Barrel Number Lookup enables you to check when your Remington firearm was manufactured. Sometimes a part can't be converted to MIM without redesigning some aspects of it to maintain the same durability, but that doesn't stop those who cut corners from trying. How do I read the serial number to determine the year Refer to Remington’s serial number chart to decipher the code and find the production year. I believe it's that slight loss of density that sometimes creates problems when a part designed to be made from a forging or from wrought bar/plate is converted to MIM without thoroughly analyzing the stresses that the part undergoes. Where can I find the serial number on my Remington 870 Common locations include the receiver, barrel, or left side of the barrel extension. Once sintered, MIM parts can be heat treated and chemically treated (passivation, anodizing, phosphating etc) the same way that parts machined from stock can. The main difference is that MIM parts reach about 96 - 99% of the density of parts made of wrought stock after going through the sintering portion of the process. MIM (metal injection molding) creates metal parts that are have comparable (but not exactly identical) mechanical properties to the same part made out of annealed bar stock.
